Data protection for primary schools

In a primary school the request almost always comes from a parent, and it almost never arrives alone. We handle the ones that matter — parental subject access requests touching safeguarding records — and keep the rest of the compliance picture quietly in order.

What we solve

The problems that actually come up in primary settings

Parental requests that arrive with a complaint

A subject access request from a parent is rarely about curiosity. It usually follows an exclusion, a safeguarding referral or a dispute with the school — which is exactly when the exemptions are hardest to apply and the consequences of getting them wrong are highest.

Separated parents, competing requests

Both parents may hold parental responsibility. One asks for the file, the other objects. The child's own interests sit somewhere in between. This is a judgement call, and schools are entitled to help making it.

Classroom apps nobody assessed

A teacher finds a spelling app, it works, and by half term four classes are using it. Where the data goes, who the supplier is and what happens at the end of the year are questions asked afterwards, if at all.

One person holding all of it

The business manager is also the deputy DSL, the fire marshal and the person who does the census. Adding data protection to that list is how it gets dropped.

What’s included

Everything you get, from day one

Every school is different. A ten-minute call is usually enough to tell you where you stand.

  • Parental subject access requests handled end to end, including redaction
  • A documented position on safeguarding exemptions, ready before you need it
  • Supplier and app assessments, turned round quickly enough to be useful
  • Privacy notices for pupils, parents and staff kept current
  • Staff training that fits an INSET slot and uses real examples

Built for primary, not adapted to it.

The same DPO service everywhere would miss what makes your setting different. This is the version that fits.
